Conditions for obtaining service

The following provisions shall apply on the centers of Amman, Zarqa, and Irbid. However, for other centers in governorates, then the distance between the laboratories shall be (50) meters:

  • The manager of the laboratory must be a holder of a professional license as a specialist in medical laboratories.
  • The area of the laboratory must be no less than (60) square meters.
  • The distance between the nearest existing medical laboratory must be no less than (150) meter in commercial areas.
  • The distance between the nearest existing medical laboratory must be no less than (250) meter in residential areas.
  • In case of medical compounds that have four clinics, the distance between the medical compounds must be no less than (50) square meters.
  • If such medical compounds have six clinics inside, five out of which are specialty clinics, then the condition of distance shall be null.

Procedures

  1. The applicant visits Heath Institutions Licensing Department, submits the letter of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to check the intent.
  2. The applicant visits the register of Health Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate, submits the letter and attached documents, registers them and assigns them with an incoming entry number.
  3. The registered transaction will be forwarded, first, to the Director of Health Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate for review, and then to Health Institutions Licensing Department.
  4. The Heath Institutions Licensing Department prepared a letter addressed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to approval the registration of intent, and supplied the applicant with the required conditions and documents to license the laboratory as per private medical laboratory Law no.30 for the year 2003 and its amendments.
  5. The applicant fills out the form of licensing and submits the required documents.
  6. Private Medical Laboratories Licensing Committee will schedule the date for the first inspection (an inspection on location and area) and prepares a report of approval on location and area.
  7. The letter of approval of the location and area of the laboratory is prepared based in the report and recommendations of the Private Medical Laboratories Licensing Committee.
  8. The applicant submits the request for the second inspection for the readiness of (devices, equipment, internal partitions).
  9. The Private Medical Laboratories Committee will schedule a date for the second inspection to test the readiness of the laboratory in terms of devices, equipment, and internal partitions.
  10. The applicant receives the approval letter signed by the Minister of Health for licensing and direct action.

Required Documents

  • A letter from the Ministry of Industry and Trade to register the intent to establish a medical laboratory.
  • A valid duly signed and certified copy of the lease contract or the title deed.
  • A valid organization plan of the location.
  • A survey plan of the location.
  • A land drawing plan.
  • A copy of the commercial register and trade name registration certificate.
  • A copy of the professional license of the manager as a laboratory specialist.
  • A copy of licensing the management of a private medical laboratory for the manager.
